AI 2027: Will We Be Ready?

You’ve heard about the coming AI “intelligence explosion,” right? Supposedly it’s decades away, nothing to worry about yet. But what if that’s wrong, and it’s only two years away?

A group of top forecasters and researchers created a scenario for how AI might evolve by 2027 and then put it all into a paper they titled, “AI 2027[1].” This paper is well-researched and written, and as a result is compelling and unsettling. What is in this paper isn’t wild SyFy. They lay out the possible scenarios methodically, step-by-step. This leaves the reader with the feeling that at least one of these scenarios feels inevitable.

Fortunately, for those who don’t have the time, nor the gumption, to read an entire paper on this topic, there is Youtube and the “AI In Context[2]” channel. This short video does a fantastic job summarizing the paper “AI 2027”.
