My Vietnam War Publications

by | Aug 17, 2022

Here you will find two papers I wrote years ago about the Vietnam War.

One paper is titled, “Claymore Alley,” and is the story of my first combat experience, an experience that would later be referred to as “friendly fire.” This paper has been used in both high schools and colleges as recommended reading for students studying the Vietnam War.

The second paper is titled, “Lest We Forget,” and was written by me after a solid year of research as I struggled to understand how the USA got involved in the Vietnam War in the first place. I even went as far as flying to Washington to interview Ralph McGehee, a former CIA officer whose job during the Vietnam War was to evaluate towns and cities to see just how many communists there were. Sadly, no one in Washington wanted to hear what he had to say. It cost Ralph his career, and later, some say, his sanity. This paper too, has been used in college curriculums dealing with the Vietnam War.

The papers are in PDF format. You can click on the links below to download them.
